How to Stay Interested In Your Story| Keeping Away the Writer’s Block

Uncategorized 0 comments

I don’t know about you, but I get all kinds of awesome story ideas, only to get uninterested after the first 7,000 words. So how do we stay totally inspired and interested and motivated to write?

1. Don’t let writer’s block take over! Take breaks from your story.

If you keep pushing just so you can get it done, your content is definitely not going to be as awesome. Take breaks. Maybe it’s as long as watching a movie, maybe it’s as short as getting a snack.

2. Keep writing anyway

It’s totally okay to take small breaks, in fact I totally suggest doing that. But never give up on your story.

3. Try a word sprint

Here’s something fun, and it really motivates you to keep going. Turn your phone on airplane mode, grab a timer, and let’s go! {(No distractions are allowed during this time)} Turn on your timer for 25 minutes, ({ or however long you desire}) and start writing. Keep writing and keep writing and keep writing. Don’t stop until your timer is up. If you want, you can take a 5 minute break to stretch your legs and get a snack, then go again.

4. One word: PINTEREST

This is probably one of my favorite parts of the writing process. Taking a break from your writing to scroll through Pinterest and find images that go with your story to make a mood board, searching character inspiration and treasure hunting for a valuable character to add, etc. I love how you get to do something artsy and fun, yet inspiring and part of your story.

Well, that’s a wrap! I hope you enjoy these ideas on how I stay inspired and motivated to write, even when my story is going stale. Don’t give up or get discouraged, this is just your first draft, it’s gonna be ugly. Love and prayers, your favorite bloggerčĺś
