Everything blurs as the world spins around you. How could this be happening to you?! Everything was perfect and then this was thrown at you. Fear fills your heart. What are you going to do?
Whenever someone you love dies, do you FEEL brave? When some tough stuff is thrown at you, do you FEEL brave?
Uh no. It just so happens that whenever terrifying, heart breaking, painful things happen, you’re probably going to feel terrified. Broken. Hurt.
So why do we beat ourselves up for being scared? For not being brave? I have some news: BRAVE ISN’T SOMETHING YOU FEEL IT’S SOMETHING YOU DO.
What does that mean? It means that it’s okay not to feel brave. That it’s okay to be scared. You never FEEL brave. You DO it.
And how do I do that? Well, DOING brave means that even though you feel scared, even though you don’t FEEL brave, you keep going. Even though you’re terrified, you don’t make decisions that destroy your life.
What is bravery?
Your immediate response is pretty much NEVER going to be that you can conquer the world.
So next time you feel the opposite of brave, don’t beat yourself up for it. Just decide that you’re going to keep going anyway.
