(This post is written by me as a part of the Savoring Single blog tour. All month long, various blogs have been talking about Shelley’s book and being single.)
You hang up with your bff and sigh, falling onto your bed and embracing the fluff. She just finished giving you the details of her new relationship with the most popular boy in youth group. She’d gushed about him being gorgeous, and you know he is. Drop. Dead. Gorgeous. Walking over to the window, you notice yet another couple walking arm in arm, there heads bent together in an intimate conversation. A groan escapes your lips as all hope leaves you. It seems like you’re surrounded by couples! You just want someone to hang out with…. Someone who will appreciate you, have fun with you, and respect you. Is that too much to ask?!

The truth is, although being a single pringle can be difficult, it’s NOT permanent. But even though Paul talks about singleness being a gift from God, we don’t share his perspective. It doesn’t mean that you have to be single forever. You can embrace your singleness, knowing that God has someone out there for you, and you’re doing the right thing waiting for him. Here’s what the bible says about waiting for the Lord to do his fantabulous works: Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. -Psalm 27:14
Isaiah 40:31 says: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Be strong, my dears. The next time you see that picture-perfect couple on Instagram, just take a deep breath and pray to God to help you overcome this difficult time in your life. Remember: You won’t be single forever. The best relationship ever is just around the corner!!!
“Savoring Single is the perfect book for girls in this generation. Sometimes it feels like everything in the world just draws attention to our singleness resulting in us feeling even more alone. Shelley has written a book that exposes the truth about being single and leads by example how we can cherish -not waste- this important season of our lives.” – Kiara
“Shelley’s heart is poured out in every single page. She has sought the heart of God in this subject and it is evident from the first chapter. Savoring Single has inspired me to chase after a deeper relationship with my Father, and I believe this book is the answer to what every daughter’s heart is truly searching for: a closer walk with Christ.” – Becky
